In 2014, I co-produced and wrote “Sekilas” , a Malay-language web short in 2014 for millennials for BFM Radio’s video division (BFM VDO), providing a platform for Malay-language speakers to engage in a critical cultural discussion.
“Sekilas” (which means “at-a-glance,” in Malaysian) features comedic sketches, brief analysis, and expert commentary. It ran bi-weekly on YouTube for eight episodes, garnered around 100,000 views during its short run, and was named one of the seven Malay-language YouTube shows that gained attention on 2014. “Sekilas” tackles issues like Muslim fashion, feminism, pop-culture, body image, the housing bubble, and healthy lifestyles.
